Atmos Rewards (the unified Alaska Mileage Plan + HawaiianMiles program launched in late 2024) inherited the best of both legacy charts. The Alaska-side partner sweet spots — Cathay Pacific business to Asia, JAL business and first, Qatar first — survived the merger. The Hawaiian-side direct-flight redemptions to Hawaii from US-mainland gateways also held. The combined program is now the single most flexible Western-Hemisphere loyalty currency for international premium-cabin redemption. Here is the 8-route summer 2026 matrix where Atmos still ships at or below 60,000 points per direction.

What carried over from the merger
The 2024 merger consolidation preserved roughly 90 percent of the legacy Alaska Mileage Plan partner award chart. The few changes that did happen:
- Cathay Pacific First Class redemption moved from 70,000 to 80,000 Atmos points one-way US-to-Asia. Still the best First Class redemption in the global ecosystem on a published-rate basis.
- Cathay Pacific Business Class stayed at 50,000 Atmos points one-way US-to-Asia. Unchanged from pre-merger.
- Qatar Qsuite First Class dropped FROM the Alaska partner list as Qatar moved to the Oneworld-direct redemption path. Qsuites are now bookable only through Avios/Qantas Frequent Flyer/AAdvantage — not Atmos.
- JAL Business Class stayed at 60,000 Atmos points one-way US-to-Japan. Unchanged.
- Hawaiian Airlines direct flights on the chart at 20,000-40,000 Atmos points one-way depending on US gateway distance, a meaningful pricing improvement vs the old HawaiianMiles direct-rate.
The 8-route summer 2026 matrix
| Route | Carrier | Atmos cost | Cash equivalent | Effective cpp |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| SFO to HKG (Hong Kong) | Cathay Pacific business | 50,000 one-way | $4,200 | 8.4 cpp |
| JFK to NRT (Tokyo) | JAL business | 60,000 one-way | $5,100 | 8.5 cpp |
| SEA to HNL | Hawaiian direct | 22,500 one-way | $520 | 2.3 cpp |
| LAX to OGG (Maui) | Hawaiian direct | 22,500 one-way | $580 | 2.6 cpp |
| SFO to AKL (Auckland) | Fiji Airways business via NAN | 55,000 one-way | $3,800 | 6.9 cpp |
| LAX to ICN (Seoul) | Korean Air business | 62,500 one-way | $5,200 | 8.3 cpp |
| JFK to AMS (Amsterdam) | Air France business | 62,500 one-way | $4,400 | 7.0 cpp |
| SFO to ANC (Anchorage) | Alaska Airlines direct | 17,500 one-way | $420 | 2.4 cpp |
The 3 redemptions that deserve special attention
- SFO-HKG Cathay business at 50,000 Atmos. 8.4 cpp on a Cathay Pacific A350 business product is the cleanest international business-class redemption available through any major US-accessible loyalty currency right now. Cathay releases generous Star Alliance partner space to Atmos specifically because Atmos has a long-standing exclusive partnership with Cathay outside the Oneworld framework. Saver availability is structurally wider on Atmos than it is on AAdvantage for the same flights.
- JFK-NRT JAL business at 60,000 Atmos. JAL Sky Suite business class on the JFK-Tokyo route has a Skytrax 5-star rating. The 60,000-point redemption pulls down a $5,100 cash fare — 8.5 cpp realized value. Note: JAL releases business-class partner space to Atmos roughly 11 months in advance, then again in the final 14 days before departure. The middle window is structurally tight.
- SEA/LAX to HNL Hawaiian direct at 22,500 Atmos. The post-merger pricing made US-mainland-to-Hawaii redemptions on Hawaiian metal materially cheaper than they were under legacy HawaiianMiles (which charged 40,000 points one-way). The 22,500-point Atmos rate is the single best US-mainland-to-Hawaii award redemption in any program for summer 2026.
How to earn Atmos points for summer 2026 redemptions
Atmos Rewards is not a transfer partner of most US bank-points programs. The 1:1 transfer partners are limited:
- Bilt Rewards at 1:1 (instant). Bilt is the cleanest transfer path to Atmos.
- Marriott Bonvoy at 3:1 (60K Bonvoy → 25K Atmos with 5,000-point bonus on every 60K transfer).
Chase Ultimate Rewards, Amex Membership Rewards, Capital One Venture, and Citi ThankYou do NOT transfer to Atmos Rewards. The traditional "all roads lead to Chase" transferable-points strategy does not work for Atmos redemptions. To build an Atmos balance you have three practical paths:
Citi Double Cash — 2% on everything
No annual fee. Pair with a Premier for full ThankYou transfer access.
Bilt Mastercard — earn points on rent
No annual fee. Transfers 1:1 to United, Hyatt, Alaska Atmos, more.
Capital One Venture — 75,000-mile welcome bonus
2x miles on every purchase. Transfer to 15+ travel partners.
Chase Sapphire Preferred — 60,000-point welcome bonus
Spend $4k/3mo. Transfer 1:1 to United, Hyatt, Virgin Atlantic.
- Direct earning via Alaska or Hawaiian flights. Both carriers feed the Atmos balance directly. Most aggressive earn rates come from buy-up-able partner-airline tickets (e.g., American Airlines codeshares on transcon routes credit Atmos at the published flight-mile-credit rate).
- Marriott Bonvoy → Atmos transfers. The 3:1 ratio plus 5K-bonus structure means 60,000 Marriott Bonvoy points yields 25,000 Atmos points (effective 2.4:1). Useful for traveler-stacks where you have a large Bonvoy balance from credit-card sign-up bonuses.
- Bilt Rewards transfers. Bilt is the only transferable-points currency that ships to Atmos at the 1:1 ratio. Earn Bilt through rent payments, Bilt Mastercard spending, and Bilt's monthly Rent Day double-points promotion.
Booking sequence for summer 2026
For travelers planning a summer 2026 Atmos redemption:
- Search award space on the partner airline's own engine, not just Atmos. Cathay Pacific business-class partner availability is often visible on Cathay's own award search even when Atmos's interface does not surface it. Call Atmos to book partner space that does not show online; the $25 phone-booking fee is waived when the route is not visible via web search.
- Initiate Bilt-to-Atmos or Bonvoy-to-Atmos transfers 7-14 days BEFORE your booking attempt. Atmos transfers from both partners are listed as "instant" but can occasionally take 24-72 hours during peak demand. Lost saver windows during transfer lag are the most common booking failure.
- Use the Cathay USA-to-HKG redemption as a forward-positioning play. Hong Kong is one of the easiest connection hubs for onward Asia travel (Singapore, Tokyo, Bangkok, Bali). Book USA-HKG on Atmos for the long-haul leg, then a separate $200-$400 cash ticket for the regional onward.
