An American Airlines customer says Barclays approved a new credit card, opened a new AAdvantage account, and they even took an award flight—before American shut the account down two months after it was created. The airline said their ban over old credit card bonuses was permanent. Years later, even a working account created by American’s banking partner doesn’t mean you’ve been allowed back in after an account shutdown.
