How the dynamic 4x works
Each calendar month, Amex calculates which of your business spending categories generated the most spend. The top 2 categories receive 4x MR for that month. The remaining categories earn the standard 1x. This is calculated automatically — you don't pick categories in advance.
For example, if your top 2 categories one month are advertising ($8,000 in Google + Facebook ads) and shipping ($3,000 in UPS + FedEx), you earn 11,000 × 4 = 44,000 MR for that month from those categories. Other spending earns 1x.
