Going on a trip to experience a business class? (opens Reddit r/awardtravel in a new tab)

Hi all, wondering what you’d do in situations like this -

I got a Delta One redemption with sky miles at 115k one-way from Seattle to Taipei in the upcoming months. It was for a family trip initially, but we then decided to postpone the trip to a different time & different place next year.

I was about to cancel this booking but saw someone mention Delta implementing basic business fare for cash tickets and might eventually extend to points tic

Dubious: Trump Claims He Skipped Flight On New Air Force One To Honor Military (opens One Mile at a Time in a new tab)

Recently, President Trump took delivery of ”his” new Air Force One, a ”flying palace” that’s a $400 million gift from Qatar. It’s a plane he’s very proud of, and despite the fact that a massive number of taxpayer dollars have gone into retrofitting this plane, it’s one that will go into his Presidential Library when he leaves office, rather than staying with the Air Force.

British Airways Flight Canceled After Crew Gets Too Drunk On Layover At All-Inclusive (opens One Mile at a Time in a new tab)

A British Airways flight was canceled after the crew got so drunk on a layover that the plane had to be flown back to London empty. Sadly this isn’t the first time that British Airways has had an issue with crew behavior on layovers. It sure seems like putting crews up at all-inclusives might not be a great idea, as much as they (clearly) enjoy it…

Worth transferring Chase UR or Amex MR for economy to Sapporo vs booking through Chase portal? (opens Reddit r/awardtravel in a new tab)

Delta Unbundles All Fares, And Basic Business Class Isn’t Called Delta One (opens One Mile at a Time in a new tab)

Over time, we’ve seen the concept of ”basic economy” become pretty widespread, whereby the cheapest economy fares include the fewest perks. The purpose of this is twofold — to expand a carrier’s potential customer base, and to get existing customers to ”buy up” to a higher fare, in order to avoid punitive restrictions.

Ugh: Boeing 737 Crashes In Arabian Sea, Plunges 35,000 Feet In Two Minutes (opens One Mile at a Time in a new tab)

Late on Tuesday night, a Boeing 737 crashed into the Arabian Sea. There’s no such thing as a straightforward aviation accident, and the circumstances surrounding this are particularly strange — the pilots reported navigation issues, and moments later the plane start descending rapidly, only to then climb rapidly, before finally plunging over six miles, and going ”missing.”

YOTEL Joining Hilton Honors Program, Planning Huge Growth In Coming Years (opens One Mile at a Time in a new tab)

A few months ago, Hilton and YOTEL announced plans to join forces, which I’m happy to see, as I’m kind of a sucker for the YOTELAIR concept. There’s now an update, as we have a sense of when this integration will happen — the YOTEL Club program will wind down as of July 15, 2026, and most YOTEL properties are expected to transition to Hilton Honors by early September 2026.

Am I too late for Vietnam in March? (opens Reddit r/awardtravel in a new tab)

I’m a bit new to award availability space for business class tickets, so forgive me if this is basic knowledge. I am trying to book 2 business class tickets to Vietnam for March/April 27’, and have been checking for the last few weeks, but no luck. It seems like all the reasonable (sub 150k point sub 30 hour flights) only have 1 seat per flight. Is it just incredibly difficult to find 2 seats on a reasonable flight? Or am I too late in trying to book these?
