Singapore Suites is the only commercial cabin you can book that has a real bed (not a converted seat), a sliding hard door, and — on the A380 center pair — a double-bed configuration that actually fits two adults. It's also one of the most points-protected cabins in the sky: KrisFlyer keeps almost all Suites award inventory locked away from partner programs, which is why nobody redeems it via Aeroplan or United and the consensus advice is "transfer to KrisFlyer or don't bother."
The product
Singapore Airlines runs Suites on the new A380s configured with six suites at the front of the upper deck. The seat is a 35"-wide leather armchair; the bed is a separate fold-down 76"-long mattress that the cabin crew makes up with linens. Sliding hard doors give floor-to-ceiling privacy. Center suites pair to form a double bed. The amenity kit is Lalique, the wines are championship-caliber (Krug Grande Cuvée, three Burgundy Grand Crus on most flights), and the Book the Cook menu is restaurant-grade because it's catered from a SATS facility that does fine dining for hotels.
Routes flying the A380 Suites in 2026: SIN-JFK (via FRA), SIN-LHR, SIN-NRT, SIN-HND, SIN-FRA, SIN-CDG, SIN-ZRH, SIN-SYD, SIN-MEL, SIN-HKG. Other A380 routes (SIN-MUC, SIN-AKL) operate the older A380 Suites — still excellent but pre-2017 product.
The redemption math (post-Nov 2025 devaluation)
Every meaningful Suites redemption in 2026 goes through KrisFlyer. Partner programs that historically reached Suites — Aeroplan, United, Virgin Atlantic — show consistent zero saver inventory. KrisFlyer raised Suites Saver rates by approximately 5% effective November 1, 2025. Travel media coverage citing pre-November 2025 rates (e.g. 218,000 miles for nonstop US-Singapore Suites) is no longer accurate.
Approximate post-devaluation Saver rates (verify exact rate on singaporeair.com before transferring):
| Route (one-way) | KrisFlyer Saver (post-Nov 2025) | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| US → SIN (nonstop where flown) | ~154,000–156,000 | Up roughly 5% from pre-devaluation rates |
| SIN → LHR (direct A380) | ~180,000 | Long-haul Europe rate |
| SIN → SYD / MEL (A380) | ~110,000 | Shorter Pacific routes |
| SIN → HKG (4-hr A380) | ~50,000 | Short-haul intra-Asia Suites |
KrisFlyer charges modest taxes/surcharges and never imposes the punitive YQ bills that British Airways or Emirates layer on. Even after the devaluation, this remains one of the cleanest premium-cabin redemptions in the points game in terms of all-in cost. KrisFlyer also has two award tiers — Saver (worth using) and Advantage (significantly more expensive, sometimes available when Saver is not).
Funding the points: every transferable currency works
KrisFlyer is one of the most-connected loyalty programs on Earth. The major US bank-points programs — Amex Membership Rewards, Chase Ultimate Rewards, Citi ThankYou Points, Capital One Miles, Bilt Rewards — all transfer to KrisFlyer at 1:1. Marriott Bonvoy transfers at 3:1 with a +5,000 bonus per 60,000 transferred. KrisFlyer runs occasional transfer bonuses (Amex bonuses to KrisFlyer in particular have been periodic) — the Pointify transfer-bonus tracker alerts when promos appear.
Citi Double Cash — 2% on everything
No annual fee. Pair with a Premier for full ThankYou transfer access.
Bilt Mastercard — earn points on rent
No annual fee. Transfers 1:1 to United, Hyatt, Alaska Atmos, more.
Earning enough miles for a Suites redemption typically combines several credit-card welcome bonuses (e.g. Amex Platinum, Chase Sapphire Preferred, Capital One Venture X) plus everyday spend. Use the Pointify points calculator to model exact welcome-bonus and earning timing.
Capital One Venture — 75,000-mile welcome bonus
2x miles on every purchase. Transfer to 15+ travel partners.
Capital One Venture X — 75,000-mile welcome bonus
$300 Capital One Travel credit, Priority Pass, 2x on everything.
Amex Platinum — 100,000-point welcome bonus
Centurion Lounge access, Fine Hotels & Resorts, 5x on flights.
Chase Sapphire Preferred — 60,000-point welcome bonus
Spend $4k/3mo. Transfer 1:1 to United, Hyatt, Virgin Atlantic.
The Bilt Mastercard (rent-paying earnings, 1:1 to KrisFlyer) is a strong everyday card if you pay rent — it lets renters accumulate KrisFlyer miles on the largest fixed monthly expense most US households have.
Availability
KrisFlyer Suites availability is volatile and tightly controlled. The schedule loads ~355 days out and KrisFlyer typically releases very limited Suites Saver inventory at schedule-load. Additional inventory may appear closer to departure on routes with weak forward bookings, and there are last-minute waves as KrisFlyer clears unsold inventory.
Pointify's award charts table tracks KrisFlyer Saver and Advantage rates by route and zone. The fare alert system can watch Suites Saver inventory on a route and date you've flagged.
The double-bed configuration
A380 Suites are 1-1-1 in most rows but the center pair connect into a double bed — the dividers retract and the two beds become one. Request the configuration during booking; the cabin crew won't reconfigure mid-flight without notice. Couples redeeming together pay the same per-passenger cost, so two Suites Saver tickets together is roughly 2× the per-person rate (no couple/family discount on award tickets).
This is the cabin's signature redemption: many people earn for years to do it once, and it's worth the wait. The seat alone (excluding the bed) competes with anything in the sky. The bed itself is genuinely flat, genuinely 76" long, and on a separate piece of furniture from the seat — meaning the seat doesn't transition into the bed (a flaw on most "lie-flat" products); it's a real mattress on a real frame.
How to book it
- Plan transfers backward from departure. KrisFlyer miles have an expiration policy; check current rules before transferring far in advance.
- Search singaporeair.com directly. Log in with KrisFlyer (free). Use the "Redeem flights" tool, set Suites cabin, and check 30-day calendars. KrisFlyer shows availability natively — partner programs typically don't.
- Time the transfer to a bonus. KrisFlyer runs occasional transfer bonuses; the Pointify transfer-bonus tracker will alert you when one appears.
- Lock the ticket. Once miles arrive (instant from most major bank-points programs), the booking flow takes a few minutes. Pay the surcharge with a card that includes trip-delay protection.
- Book the Cook 24 hours out. The pre-order menu adds restaurant-quality dishes (lobster thermidor, satay) that aren't on the standard cart. It's free.
Traps that cost points
- Advantage award trap. Saver and Advantage display together — easy to misclick. Advantage is 1.7-2× the cost. Always confirm "Saver" before transferring.
- Equipment swap. SQ rotates A380 to A350 on some routes during low season. The A350 First product is excellent but it isn't Suites and has no double bed. Verify equipment T-30 days before.
- Stopover surcharge. KrisFlyer allows free stopovers in SIN on award tickets, but stopovers >24 hours add cost. Plan stopover length carefully or split into two one-way tickets.
- Round-trip pricing trap. Round-trip awards are not discounted. Two one-ways gives you flexibility (different programs, different cabins) at no premium.
How this compares
Singapore Suites' closest peer is Emirates First on the A380 (covered in our Emirates shower suite playbook). Suites generally costs more in points but less in cash surcharges, with more privacy. Etihad The Residence (covered here) is more spectacular but harder to access. ANA's The Room (covered in the Virgin Atlantic ANA playbook) is the business-class alternative at much lower mileage cost.
For a points-spending strategy comparison, our cash vs points framework models the exact CPP threshold above which Suites is worth the cabin upgrade vs paying cash and saving points for two business-class trips.
Bottom line
Singapore Suites is the cabin to redeem once in your life with someone you love, on the A380 in the center double-bed configuration, on a long-haul leg. After the November 1, 2025 KrisFlyer devaluation, US-Singapore Suites Saver is approximately 154,000–156,000 miles one-way — up roughly 5% from pre-devaluation rates but still one of the cleanest premium-cabin redemptions in the points game. Time your transfer to a KrisFlyer bonus when possible and verify the exact rate on singaporeair.com before transferring miles.
